The "Pinerolo" Brigade, currently deployed in Afghanistan at the head of the Train Advise Assist Command West (TAAC-W), recalls the 195 years of history between operational commitments and the challenges of the future for the "Forza NEC" project.
The 13 November 1821 the "Saluzzo" Regiment that between 1672 and 1738 had been protagonist of epic battles, not only on the Italian peninsula, but also outside of it, with royal decree was transformed into Brigata "Pinerolo".
Since then, the Brigade has helped write the history of the Army and Italy by participating in the wars of independence, world conflicts, and military operations for peace abroad in Albania, Kosovo, Lebanon, Afghanistan and Djibouti.
The Pinerolo soldiers have also participated in interventions of public utility to help the populations affected by natural disasters, always showing professionalism and generosity, recognized by a Bronze medal for the value of the Army awarded following the aid given to the Apulian populations affected by the 1980 earthquake.
In recent history, the "Pinerolo" was chosen by the Army for the development of the Forza NEC Project (Network Enabled Capabilities), a program that will give the possibility to connect every single soldier with his command, to have, through a digital system , all the information and orders to operate in the field.
TodayToday from the base of Camp Arena the Brigade Commandant, Brigadier General Gianpaolo Mirra, recalled the 195 years of a glorious history and contextually complimented all the Italian soldiers for the work of Train Advise Assist carried out in favor of the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) in these six months of mission on the Afghan territory, months characterized by a delicate operational commitment in a sensitive area of Asia.
Not least, the commitment of assistance to the population with the many civil and military cooperation projects for the improvement of the living conditions of the local population.
"An anniversary", as General Mirra remarked, "which sees men and women as protagonists in the present and represents the encouragement and stimulus for the future of the 'Pinerolo', in a successful operational model that guarantees peace and increases the confidence of the Afghan people, always in the spirit of their motto: "Always ahead, higher and higher"! ".
