This morning, in Piazza del Plebiscito, the students of the 236th course Gold Medal for Military Valor s. lieutenant Guido Cucci they took an oath of loyalty to the Italian Republic. The solemn oath, which took place in front of the Institute Flag and sealed with the reading of the traditional formula, pronounced by the commander of the "Nunziatella" Military School, Colonel Giuseppe Stellato, sanctions the full entry of the 57 students - 43 men and 14 women - in the ranks of one of the most prestigious educational institutions of the Army.
The ceremony took place in the presence of the Minister of Defense, the Hon. Guido Crosetto, of the Army chief of staff, general of the army corps Pietro Serino, and of the commander for training, specialization and doctrine of the Army, general of the army corps Carlo Lamanna.
The Minister of Defense, addressing the young students, said: “I look at you with the pride of a father and a minister. Today, at just 15 years old, you have chosen to make a commitment of loyalty to the institutions, principles and values on which the nation is based. I am honored and proud to watch you. Today you have chosen a path that is not easy, you have chosen responsibility and altruism. You have chosen courageously, and Nations grow on courageous choices. Discern good and evil and defend that choice. To do this you need to build yourself with principles and values. This is the meaning of your oath."
The Chief of Army Staff highlighted this during his speech “the sense of brotherhood and belonging that binds all those who “made” the Nunziatella. This bond is born, grows and consolidates not due to common beliefs, convictions, gender, tendencies or ethnicity, but due to the common experience that you will face at the School. An experience that involves common and shared objectives, to be achieved together. This is what will make you brothers and sisters. And it is in this way that Nunziatella, faithful to her motto, will prepare you for her life, and for those who want it, for weapons. This is how it will make you exemplary citizens aware of your duties."
The Military Institute of Naples, together with the Military School Teuliè, guarantees a vast and profound preparation, particularly attentive to the completion of all the educational programs foreseen by the MIUR, including in the training course disciplines that favor the ethical-moral, cultural and physical training process of the students through the application of a code of conduct inspired by military rules. The transversality of military culture is presented to students as an educational platform on which the values and knowledge necessary for the development of skills that can be used in any context are grafted.
The ceremony was attended by, among others: the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Hon. Edmondo Cirielli, the undersecretary of state for defense, sen. Isabella Rauti, the mayor of Naples, doctor Gaetano Manfredi, the prefect of Naples, doctor Claudio Palomba, the president of the Gold Medals for Military Valor Group, gen. ca Rosario Aiosa, the president of the National Association of Nunziatella alumni, lawyer Giuseppe Izzo, the fighting and weapons associations, other military and civil authorities including diplomatic representatives, the judiciary, the university, the regions, the local authorities and other administrations.
