Fire Thursday for Army helicopters

Yesterday afternoon, between 17.00 and 20.00, a UH-205A helicopter and an HH412 of the 2nd "Sirio" Regiment of the Army Aviation were engaged to put out fires in Sardinia and Calabria.

The intervention of the two military helicopters was the Unified Air Operations Center (COAU) of the Civil protection.

The crew intervened in Sardinia took off with the UH-205A from Elmas (CA) to carry out fire-fighting activities in the area of ​​Is Craboneris, in the countryside of the municipality of Pula (CA) while, the one engaged in Calabria, took off with a HH-412 from Lamezia Terme (VV) to intervene in Reggio Calabria and surrounding areas.

Almost 5 total flight hours with more than 3 hours of work on the areas affected by the fires, 32 launches and a total of about 32000 liters of water poured, have allowed the Army crews to contribute to the extinguishing operations of massive fronts of fire that, powered by the wind, could have expanded by putting at risk the safety of residents and numerous homes.
