The purpose of the exercise is to verify the capacity of the NRDC-ITA in planning and conducting high-intensity operations such as Land Component Command (LCC), a role he will hold in the 2018, as envisaged by the Long Term Rotation Plan (LTRP).
The LCC represents the terrestrial component of the new "enhanced" NATO Response Force (eNRF), a military "advanced" rapid reaction tool which, due to speed of intervention and deployable operational capabilities, allows the Alliance to immediately face any threat in the name of Collective Defense or in response to crises, with very short deployment times.
Within the eNRF, NRDC-ITA will maintain the Command and Control of the terrestrial part of the Very High Readiness Joint Task Force (VJTF), which ensures the first and immediate NATO response to possible threats, with the ability to deploy the entire military device between the 5 and the 15 days from the order notice.
During the exercise in progress, NRDC-ITA maintains a close connection with units of excellence of the armed force, such as the "Aosta" brigade, the "Taurinense" brigade and the "Ariete" brigade, currently deployed at the Capo Teulada range , in Sardinia, to allow the exercise to continue with the actual use of maneuvering units on the ground.
Within the VJTF, NRDC-ITA will employ several specialist Army units belonging to Units such as the 28 ° "Pavia" regiment and the 7 ° NBC Defense Regiment "Cremona".
