11/04/17

Safe Endeavor, "Safe action" is the name of the exercise in which 217 captains who are attending the 142nd General Staff course at the Turin Army Application School took part. This complex training event allowed to evaluate the technical-professional preparation gained by future military leaders through the simulation of operational problems that arise in a brigade command post during a mission in Italy or abroad, in interforce and multinational contexts.

During the exercise the captains - among them 17 women and three foreigners from China and Niger - faced different situations, from the more traditional military tasks to humanitarian emergencies, such as the overcrowding of refugee camps, the prevention of inter-ethnic conflicts, the support to populations affected by natural disasters, the latter useful for testing the dual use capabilities of the various structures. A number of young Carabinieri officers charged with carrying out the typical duties of the military police operated alongside colleagues in the Army.

Among the most successful factors of Safe Endeavor real-time analysis of information, management of public information and communication, flexible response to unexpected events and the effectiveness of the decision-making process.

The exercise, which began on April 3, was organized by the Army Training and Application School Command in synergy with the Army General Staff, NATO Rapid Deployable Corps - Italy by Solbiate Olona, the Staff College of the United Nations of Turin, the Simulation and Validation Center of Civitavecchia, the Officers School of the Carabinieri of Rome, the Interforces School for Biological and Chemical Nuclear Defense of Rieti and the 28th "Pavia" regiment of Pesaro, specialized in Operational Communication activities .
