Army training activities continue in Sweden

The validation of the MLRS-I weapon system, conducted by the 5 ° artillery regiment rocket launcher "Superga" in Sweden, at the Vidsel Test Range, was successfully concluded yesterday.

The activity, in addition to the achievement of the technical approval of the weapon system, has guaranteed the validation of the use of GMLRS - UNITARY M31A1 ammunition, the latest generation GPS-guided rocket. The tests carried out confirmed the top technical capabilities and the extreme precision at long distances offered by the weapon system, characteristics that allow the system to be the first surgical precision of the Armed Force, the first step of an ambitious project destined to revolutionize the concept of traditional artillery in line with the needs of current operating theaters.

The training activities in Sweden will continue in the coming days with the conduct of the exercise called ARTYc STRIKE 2016, which will allow to validate the crews and command posts for the use of the weapon system.

The artillery commander and inspector of the artillery weapon, in expressing his satisfaction with the regimental commander, Colonel Edmondo Dotoli, for the important goal achieved by his unit, the result of a demanding and successfully completed route, urged to continue the path taken, outlining the objectives that will affect the artillery weapon in the near future.
