Last Saturday the parachutist knights of the "Savoia" regiment returned from an intense training activity carried out in the United Kingdom. From the 3 to the September 9 the 1 ° "ABBA" squadron, assisted by a logistic and command and control rate, took part in a series of activities at the Stanford Training Area (STANTA).
The exercise, designed to increase interoperability with partner nations, implement strategic projection capability, and refine tactics and procedures, developed in coordination with Household Cavalry Regiment personnel. The start of the activities coincided with the air-launch carried out on the British training area by the paratroopers of "ABBA", who left Pisa aboard a C-130 aircraft of the Italian Air Force.
The "lead patrol" on the ground coordinated operations with the aircraft crew and successfully completed all the phases of the aircraft. Once on the ground, the unit was used continuously in the conduct of a series of tactical activities to achieve the various pre-set training objectives. Together with the allied unity, the "Savoia" personnel recognized and acquired the objective identified in an insurgent position. The neutralization of the station, using combat procedures in built-up areas, was the epilogue of the training activity carried out in Training Area of Stanford.
The level achieved underlines the integration of the department in the ranks of the air force and the consolidation of the process of transformation of the regiment as a paratrooper unit employed by the "Folgore" brigade.
