Palinuro School ship parked in Malta

Today the school ship Palinuro of the Navy has landed in the port of Valletta, Island of Malta, where it will remain parked until the 05 August.

The port of Valletta represents the first stage of the 53ª Campagna di Nave Palinuro for the students of the Marshals School of Taranto boarded in Brindisi last 25 July; the campaign will continue in Greece, Turkey, Cyprus, Rhodes and Portoferraio.

Today, at 15: 00, the ship's captain, frigate captain Giuseppe Valentini, will hold a press conference on board during which he will present the ship and the 2017 Education Campaign.

The Education Campaign is a fundamental step for the training of the student as it represents the natural completion of the activities carried out during the Academic Year. The main purpose is to make the students acquire the spirit of the Sailor, or a first knowledge, practical and direct, of the various activities associated with the exercise of the profession of "going to sea", establishing in the students an adequate mastery and confidence with the work environment.

During the navigation the young students will train in the learning of nautical and maritime sciences thus developing the team spirit, the ability to manage the staff and will also acquire those ethical values ​​and traditions that are peculiar to the Navy.

Ship Palinuro will open to the public on the following days and times:

  • 01 August: from 16:00 to 19:00;
  • 02 August: from 10:00 to 12:00 and from 16:00 to 17:30;
  • 03 August: from 10:00 to 12:00 and from 16:00 to 19:00;
  • 04 August: from 16:00 to 19:00.
