In the crossing from Fortaleza to Rio de Janeiro, 10 Brazilian soldiers, of different ranks and categories, had the experience of sailing the seas on board a ship Vespucci.

The sailing ship, engaged in the Round the World trip, had not touched Brazil since 1952, when it reached Rio de Janeiro.

The Brazilian soldiers took an active part in life on board, participating in guard duties and daily activities, thus becoming full members of the crew of the Vespucci.

The embarkation period allowed us to get to know the mutual peculiarities of the counterpart, consolidating the already existing cooperative relationships between the two friendly navies.

To further strengthen these ties, two passexes carried out by Nave Vespucci with two units of the Brazilian Navy, the patrol vessel Macau and the sailing ship White Swan, respectively near Fortaleza and near Rio de Janeiro, in which communications exercises in tactics and flashes of light and kinematic maneuvers were carried out.

This experiential exchange is bearing significant fruit in terms of relations and collaboration between Italy and Brazil, both from a military point of view and in the broader framework of the country system for the strengthening of bilateral relations.
