The chief of staff of the Navy, team admiral Valter Girardelli, yesterday received the 'Dove of Civilization', the work of the sculptor Benedetto Robazza and symbol of the 'Reasons of the new policy' award.

The ceremony took place in the Vanvitelli room of the former convent of Sant'Agostino (Rome), which is now the seat of the State Attorney General.

The recognition was established in 1996 by the cultural association 'The dawn of the third millennium' (chaired by Sara Iannone), and is delivered annually "with the aim of soliciting and enhancing those particularly significant experiences in the testimony of universal fundamental values for the growth and development of society - said the president - and in particular to those who, with their human and professional life, have contributed to the evolution and transformations of our country, in the economy, politics, culture, medicine, sport, art, science, engineering, religion and those who work in the field of territorial security.

"Like the Navy crews - recalled the Chief of Staff of the Navy in sharing the award with the whole Armed Force - men and women who are constantly at sea, that sea that unites and that represents our future".
