Durand de la Penne destroyer parked in Varna (Bulgaria)

The Navy destroyer Luigi Durand de la Penne arrived today in Varna (Bulgaria) where he will stop until Monday 11 September, as part of the 2 ^ Naval Academy Class Education Campaign.

Starting from Taranto, the 11 August, the unit has already visited the ports of Piraeus and Odessa. At the end of the stage in Bulgaria he will reach Aksaz in Turkey and then finish the education campaign in Livorno at the end of the month.

The training campaign carried out on an operating ship represents an important training novelty for the 88 official students of the second class of the Naval Academy of Livorno who continue the path of professional growth undertaken, carrying out an intense program focused on the conduct of navigation and operations of maritime security.

The life of the students on board the ship is a balance between the study of navigation subjects and their practice, followed also and above all by the ship's crew who, in addition to helping the cadets in learning the subjects being studied, demonstrate how the life of edge is constituted in its essence by human relationships and a lot of professionalism.

Through participation in cultural and promotional events, in collaboration with the national diplomatic representatives of the host countries, the education campaign proves to be one of the best ambassadors of national excellence abroad.

For the students, this is a significant moment with which they have the opportunity to learn about and deal with different cultures and customs in a vision of international, European and global maritime, which outlines this beginning of the millennium as a "blue century". The "blue growth" is in fact considered a key factor on which to aim for sustainable development of our country in a context where maritime is a fundamental resource for commercial growth, employment and technology.

Ship Durand de la Penne will be open to the public on the following days and times:

- 8 September, from 15.00 to 18.00;

- 9 September, from 15.00 pm to 18.00 pm;

- 10 September, from 10.00 to 12.00 and from 15.00 to 18.00
