On 27 September, following the request for intervention from the prefecture of Cagliari, the operating group divers of COMSUBIN intervened with the SDAI unit of Cagliari and the support of personnel from the SDAI La Maddalena unit, under the command of the stv Francesco Alò, in the locality “Cala Cipolla” (SU) to carry out the search, localization and identification of a presumed explosive device remnant of war, with the aim of removing it and subsequently neutralizing it.
Having successfully concluded the underwater research activity, the SDAI specialists were able to identify the object reported as a container for domestic gas and therefore classify it as "inert" and not dangerous to public safety.
The object was recovered from the surface by them and delivered on site to the Local Police of the municipality of Domus de Maria for subsequent disposal.
