Among the various institutional tasks assigned to the divers of the "Teseo Tesei" Underwater and Incursors Group there is also that of collaborating with the various departments of the State so that the specialized skills of the Navy in the diving sector are made available to the community.

As part of an emergency remediation of war remnants requested by the prefecture of Ragusa, on 4 August last, in the waters in front of the town of Costa Fenicia (RG), the operators of the SDAI Nucleus (Demining Defense of Insidious Vehicles) found two artifacts that immediately aroused the interest of the Comsubin divers.

Removed the incrustations that time had deposited on their surface and raised slightly from the bottom to acquire the information necessary for their recognition, the metal objects found have been identified as cannons of possible historical interest.

Repositioned in the place of discovery, the Superintendence of the sea of Palermo was immediately notified, which recently collaborated with the divers of the Underwater Operating Group during the inspection of the wreck of the submarine. Veniero occurred last June.

In fact, the underwater departments of the Navy have been collaborating for some time with the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism, bringing to light objects that the sea has kept for centuries, testifying how the Armed Force has always been engaged in tasks that, for their nature, are also closely connected to the civil world, with particular reference to the complex and articulated context of the maritime environment.
