On the morning of Monday 02 October 2023, after approximately four days of navigation, Ship Trieste has entered dock number 4 of the Trieste Arsenal "San Marco" where it will be affected by dry dock works and preparation of the combat system.

Thus began the first "visit" of the future Landing Helicopter Dock (LHD) of the Navy in the Julian city of the same name.

Ship Trieste was launched on 29 May 2019 in the city of Castellammare di Stabia and subsequently transferred to the Fincantieri factories in Muggiano (La Spezia) where, since January 2020, the fitting-out works have continued, interrupted only by works in the dry dock in the city of Palermo in summer 2022.

LHD Trieste, whose motto is "Fulge super mare", represents the first unit of its kind in the national shipbuilding industry. In many respects prototypical, with 245 meters of length and a displacement of 38000 tons, Nave Trieste has strong capabilities to project the military instrument and conduct amphibious assault operations ensuring prolonged persistence in the area of operations with high logistical autonomy. Ship Trieste it is the second MMI unit to bear this name after the cruiser Trieste of the Royal Navy which entered service in 1929 with the motto "Redenta Redimo".

The stop in the Julian city will involve Nave Trieste until mid-November when the unit will return to Muggiano (La Spezia) and then be delivered to the Navy in spring 2024.
