Twelfth clinical weekend of the 'Un Mare di Sorrisi' project, the one that saw ship from 14 to 16 October Cavour committed 'on the front line' to bring back the smile on the face of six people.

On board the Marina flagship, moored in the port of Cagliari at the end of the exercise Emerald Move 16, the volunteer doctors of the Operation Smile Italia Onlus Foundation, with the help of the health service staff of the Navy, the volunteer nurses of the Italian Red Cross, operated on the six patients, aged between nine and thirty. years, suffering from cleft lip and palate. The interventions, all successfully completed, will give a 'new' smile to patients. On Saturday, nine medical checkups were also carried out on patients already operated on and on children and adults who will be operated on in the future.

The efficient and modern ship hospital facility Cavour, together with the commitment of all the health personnel taking part in the project, they are the architects of all this since the beginning of the 2013 and to date, on the flagship of the Navy, it has been possible to host twelve sessions of the project “Un Mare di Sorrisi ", With more than one hundred and twenty patients visited and sixty surgical operations carried out.
