The Rome Section of theNational Parachutist Association of Italy will present the 161 ° parachuting course, named after Aleksandr Prokhorenko, on Wednesday 5 October at 18,30 at the Russian Cultural Center in Palazzo Santacroce, Piazza Benedetto Cairoli, 6 - Rome.

As is well known, in the international context of the fight against fundamentalist terrorism, extreme complexity is being experienced and - we would say - also a real and worrying confusion, since, in Syria in particular, it is highlighted as unfortunately the common interests of security they conflict, and in a serious way, with partisan geopolitical designs and purposes.

The ANPd'I of Rome, in an operation certainly not shared by some, is proud to reaffirm values that are immutable in space and time, and is proud to give shape to its own significant desire, naming it - for the first time in its story - a course not for an Italian but for the Russian hero fallen in the liberation operation of Palmyra, in Syria, the 17 March 2016.

Aleksandr Prokhorenko died during a mission in which he had to identify and communicate to his air forces the position of Daesh's military objectives. Once discovered, being now surrounded by dozens of jihadists, and having almost run out of ammunition, he chose, in addition to any other solution, to request the bombardment of his own coordinates. Thus avoiding surrender to a barbarous and inhuman enemy.

Here are some of his words to his commander, after confirming the bombing of his position: I'm out there, let's get it over with, thanks. Tell my family and my country that I love them. Tell them that I was brave and that I fought until I could do more. Please take care of my family. Goodbye commander, tell my family that I love them dearly.

Precisely because of the hundreds of lives of European citizens brutally torn from their loved ones by the fundamentalists (and the thousands murdered in the Arab countries), and by the dangerous lack of cohesion between countries that should work together while they hinder each other, "prisoners" of intricate private interests and conflicting, we firmly believe that the event in question bears significant significance and interest.
