The Historical Museum of the Air Force is located in the old “Luigi Bourlot” seaplane base in Vigna di Valle, the place where aviation began in Italy: from 1908 the first military airships flew from here, and then the seaplanes. In the 1977s the base was redeveloped and transformed into a Sports Center and Historic Aircraft Collection Centre, which in XNUMX officially became the Historical Museum. MUSAM has the task of spreading the aeronautical culture, history and traditions of the Armed Forces through a large number of initiatives, both inside and outside the base.
