Yesterday morning in Rome, in the setting of the Crowe Plaza Hotel, the "Network Enabled Capability Technology" conference, promoted by the Smi Group, kicked off this afternoon with the latest speeches.

With numerous NATO experts from different countries present, the conference aims to take stock of the status of the "Forza NEC" project in Italy and within NATO, identifying the state of the art of the military industry and the progress of the project under the profile of the application spiral.

During the first day of work there were various interventions, some of which were particularly effective, which allowed us to outline the progress of the project both in terms of available technologies and with reference to the first applications.

Particularly decisive was the picture provided by General Jeffrey G. Lofgren, Deputy Chief of Staff Capability Development, allied command and transformation. The general made reference to his experience during the service provided in Afghanistan, where he created a first partially operational NCW netcentric system in about 6 years.

Certainly, he says, in Italy we are an example of the digitization project of the armed forces, to which the rest of NATO can look and take inspiration to deal with the critical points encountered with resilience. An essential point, according to the general, is also to conceive the cyber environment as an environment in which the military are not to be considered later, but on the contrary have the maximum need to collaborate with the private industry sector: the vision of the next century, under the war profile will undoubtedly focus on connectivity.

Another important point was identified in the so-called "Human Factor", that is the need to adequately prepare the preparers in the field: it will be up to NATO, in conjunction with individual nations, to integrate a system that allows operators to integrate all the necessary procedures for the smooth operation of an information sharing system that generates effective and concrete interoperability.
