This morning the Special Commissioner of Rome Francesco Paolo Tronca visited the exhibition on the Great War at the Historical Infantry Museum in Piazza S. Croce in Gerusalemme.
Prefect Tronca was welcomed by General Danilo Errico, Chief of Staff of the Army, General Giuseppenicola Tota, Head of the V Section General Affairs of the EMS, and Sister Monica Dialuce, National Inspector of the Volunteer Nurse Corps of the Italian Red Cross.
In the museum you can visit two exhibitions dedicated to the "Great War": the first organized by the Army entitled "Bulletin 1268. The paper border "which will remain open until 4 November of the 2018, the second instead, entitled" The Military Corps of the CRI in the Great War: a story made up of men ", which will remain open to the public until 29 February 2016.
The Army, on the occasion of the centenary of the Great War, wanted to create a commemorative exhibition that represents the conflict starting from its protagonists, that is, the many men who, even not being devoted to arms, held up their rifle to fight on the front, in response to the country's appeal. The victory bulletin, the 1268 number, sanctioned the end of the war and was taken as the emblem of the exhibition, as a reminder of the moment when all of Italy united and moved around its flag, looking at peace as a huge achievement.
The Italian Red Cross Military Corps, on the other hand, created an exhibition with photographs, objects and equipment related to the rescue activities carried out during the First World War to illustrate and highlight the impressive amount of work done to help all those who were victims of the events of the war: soldiers at the front, wounded soldiers and sick hospitalized in territorial hospitals, or civilians hit by the violence of the war. A rescue provided continuously by 24 May 2015, up to the entire 1919.
Commissioner Tronca stated during the visit: "The trenches of the First World Conflict tell of atrocities but also represented the place of national cohesion between Sicilians and Venetians, between Romans and Milanese who met for the first time fighting for a single homeland. We must be inspired by those values and always invest in young people and culture in order to have an Italy that is aware of its great history". Subsequently, he thanked General Errico for the important work done by the Army soldiers who are always at the side of the citizens.
