torpedo boat Etna (commander, vessel captain Giovanni Giorello) arrived in Canea where a continuous state of alarm reigns, he ground a landing company to ensure protection at the consulate.

The Etna landing company will be joined in the first days of February by the battleship King King Umberto (commander, Captain Edward Incoronato). Both contingents from landing will operate in the devastated city, in the grip of Muslim gangs that sow terror, in a situation of great danger, but managing to rescue a large number of Christian families aboard the two ships.
