The 26 October 1866 Happened: First Treatise with China

26/10/14

Beijing the frigate captain Vittorio Arminjon, commander of the Magenta corvette, bearing the credentials of the plenipotentiary minister, signs the first treaty of friendship, trade and navigation between China and Italy.

The most favored Nation clause is acknowledged with the opening of 16 ports to trade and granted - as is already the case in France and Great Britain - to reside its diplomatic representative in Beijing rather than in Tianjin.
