15 September 1916 happened: First submersible sunk by plane

15/09/14

French submarine Foucault (commander, vessel lieutenant Devin) lurking in the waters of Kotor, 12 sighted SSO Remo peak was sighted by two Austrian seaplanes (L.132 and L.135) taken off from the Kumbor seaplane station (Kotor) who launch with great precision two bombs each from 50 kg seriously damaging the submarine forcing it to emerge.

For reported failures the commander decides not to continue the fight, orders the crew to jump overboard and sinks the boat.

One of the seaplanes docked at the submarine picks up the captain while the other crew members are picked up by the torpedo boat 100 M immediately rushed.

Foucault holds the sad record of being the first submarine in history sunk by an airplane.
