The expedition made up of the vessel lieutenant Umberto Cagni (officer in charge of Luigi di Savoia), the professor (preparatory medicine) Filippo de Filippi, Vittorio Sella, Erminio Bolla (president of the CAI) and four guides from Valle d'Aosta, was formed in Turin, he made the first stop in Liverpool for the ocean crossing with landing in New York and then crossed the United States to Seattle, arousing great interest and curiosity.
