12 September 1909 happened: First Italian airplane pilot patent

The Centocelle airfield after a practical six-hour training course on a Wright brothers' Flyer aircraft, invited to Italy by the Royal Aviators Club of Rome, Lieutenant Mario Calderara achieves the first Italian airplane pilot license.

Subsequently, following the sale of the aircraft by the Wright to the aforementioned Club, Calderara will be able to complete the training of Lieutenant of the Military Engineers Umberto Savoia, patent n. 2 of the nascent Italian military aviation.
