auxiliary cruiser Città di Palermo (3414 tsl) under the command of the frigate captain Enrico Cuturi sinks with the loss of 90 men (between Italians and British) off Brindisi due to impact against a mine laid by the Germanic submarine UC 14 (commander, lieutenant of vessel C. Bauer).
