7 July 1900: Approved the sending of troops to China

amera approves the sending of troops to China. Actions begin by the Army to set up an expedition corps formed by 2543 infantrymen and bersaglieri (an infantry battalion, a battalion of bersaglieri, a battery of machine guns and fortress artillery, a detachment of the Genius, a field hospital and a subsistence section), called Regie Truppe of the Far East, under the command of Colonel Vincenzo Garioni.

The Marina hires four steamers, three to transport troops and the fourth to transport coal, food and materials.

The steamers used were: Singapore, Java and Minghetti owned by "La Navigazione Generale Italiana 'Società Riunite FIorio-Rubattino' - Paid up share capital 33 million - based in Rome" and the San Gottardo belonging to the company Dufour & Pruzzo of Genoa which it will be used for the transport of materials.
