torpedo boat Etna (commander, vessel captain Giovanni Giorello) arrived in Canea where a continuous state of alarm reigns, he ground a landing company to ensure protection at the consulate.

In the first days of February the armored King Rebert (commander, captain of vessel Edoardo Incoronato) will be added to the Etna landing party.

Both landing contingents will operate in the devastated city, prey to Muslim bands that sow terror, in a situation of great danger, but succeeding in bringing a large number of Christian families to safety on board the two ships.
