(To Marina Militare)
23/11/15

Friday - The first French submarine Gymnote (had been built in the Arsenal of Toulon and launched the 24 September 1888) of 30 electric propulsion designed by Eng. Gustave Zédé and strongly wanted by Admiral Hyacinthe Aube, head of the Marine Nationale, begins a series of tests and trials off Toulon.

Admiral Brin, after hearing the results of the Gymnote tests, will commission the director of Genio Navale Giacinto Pullino to design a submersible boat so that the Royal Navy can experiment with the construction and use of the new naval vessel. Pullino's studio will lead to the birth of the first Italian submarine.
