(To Marina Militare)
16/09/15

Sunday - In Palermo, Bourbon and clerical revolutionary elements take possession of the city and reduce the few government troops of presidium within limited areas subjecting them to siege; the decisive intervention of the Tancredi wheeled corvette (1264 t, six cannons), in port, with the fire of its cannons prevents the assault on the prisons and keeps the defense active.

On 21 the revolt will be definitively repressed; in the evening Palermo returns to the power of government forces thanks to the fire of naval guns and the active contribution of three infantry battalions transported with the Tancredi wheeled corvette and with the transport Rosolino Pilo and the support of two battalions (about 1000 men) formed by the landing companies and soldiers of the Marine Infantry grounded by ships.

In the fierce fighting nine men among the sailors and marines of Marina and 37 lose their lives, of which six are officers, in addition to personnel infected with cholera that meanders through the city. Once the order has been restored, the 27 ships will move to La Spezia to move to availability.
