14 April 1903: The cruisers Varese and Agordat in Algiers

Armored cruiser Varese under the command of the frigate captain Pasquale Scognamiglio and the torpedo cruiser Agordat (photo) under the command of the frigate captain Carlo Lazzoni temporarily detached from the Naval Force of the Mediterranean, arrive in Algiers on a special mission to pay tribute to the president of the French Republic Èmile Loubet visits the city.

The work of the Navy follows and makes the work of diplomacy effective in rapprochement with France.
