12 September 1909: First Italian airplane pilot license

Sunday - On the Centocelle flight field after a six hour pilotship on a Wright brothers' Flyer aircraft, invited to Italy by Royal Club Aviatori in Rome, Mario Calderara's submarine arrives at the first Italian pilot of the " airplane.

Subsequently, following the sale of the aircraft by the Wright to the aforementioned Club, Calderara will be able to complete the training of Lieutenant of the Military Engineers Umberto Savoia, patent n. 2 of the nascent Italian military aviation.
