Thursday - During the notice mission Relay, to Merka the lieutenant Maurizio Talmone (in the photo) during the re-embarkation on the lance for the return on board, is treacherously stabbed in the back by a native.

He will die a few hours later despite the care of the ship's doctor. The unit then directs for Itala, approximately 120 miles N of Merka, to give honorable burial to the body in Italian territory.

The day 15 the ship (commander, captain of frigate Edoardo Incoronato) returned to Merka submits the Somali part of the locality to a long punitive bombardment for the death of the lieutenant Talmone with 157 grenades from 120 and 57 mm causing significant damages to the village and he translates on board prisoners the Somali chief and the notables of the place considered to be corrections of the aggression.
