During the first day of the UAE government's annual meeting in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, Sheikh Mohammed launched We The UAE 2031, the plan that will underpin the next decade of growth for the Emirates. The national plan aims to double the UAE's GDP and double the number of tourists to 40 million...

Dubai Ruler said We The UAE 2031 "will shape the country's progress towards a more complete and developed future". Economic prosperity, social well-being and the development of human capital are at the heart of the national plan for the next decade and the latter will be the cornerstones of the economic and social system.

Ensuring economic prosperity for the country while establishing a society that continues to thrive, this milestone will focus on providing all means of support to enable residents to maximize their contribution across all sectors. It will cover the education sector, developing national strategies for training, and develop the health sector by upgrading its services. Plan "will play a pivotal role in enhancing the UAE's position to become the best destination for medical treatment in the region", bringing it to one of the top 10 countries in the world for quality of health care. Furthermore, all policies will be strengthened to achieve high economic growth, accelerate the transformation in the energy sector and propel the UAE into the top 10 countries in the world for global potential.

This point aims at double the UAE's GDP to Dhs 3 trillion and boost the country's non-oil exports to AED 800 billion. It will also increase the tourism sector's contribution to GDP to Dhs 450 billion.

As regards the policy of international relations and diplomacy, which is one of the main pillars of the national plan, it determines the framework of the international role of the United Arab Emirates. This will enable the UAE to strengthen its foreign relations, enhancing its international presence and encouraging positive dialogue globally. At the top of the agenda are attention to the environment and the consolidation of the country's position as a center of innovation in sustainability, science and technology.

The fourth and final point of the "We The UAE 2031" plan aims to improve government performance by providing the best government services in the world. The main focus of the policies is to continue to be recognized as one of the safest and most secure countries in the world by developing proactive legislation for new economic sectors and improving the country's position to be globally number one in everything related to perception of safety.

"We The UAE 2031" is therefore the roadmap in which all government entities and institutions and the private sector will cooperate to ensure the progress of the development process, in accordance with the ten-year framework of the plan.
