"No coup in Libya: the Sarraj government remains in place"

Hustle and bustle in Libya in the last few hours: what was hastily labeled as a 'coup' would seem to be the work of a small group of Islamist militiamen who took temporary control of the offices of some ministries in Tripoli.

The ministries of Defense, Labor and Justice in Tripoli would have been occupied by "forces of the government of national salvation of former Prime Minister Khalifa Ghwell", and then immediately returned under the control of special forces loyal to the Libyan presidential council led by the prime minister in charge Fayez al-Serraj.

An official from the Libyan Ministry of the Interior, Ashraf Soulsi, said "We have regained control of all the government buildings that the militia had tried to assault."

The Italian ambassador to Libya, Giuseppe Perrone, said "I am not aware of any coup in progress, the institutional offices in which the government of national agreement operates under the leadership of Sarraj continue to work" but contiguously a strengthening of the device was requested security that oversees our embassy in Tripoli.

The alarmism would seem due more than anything else to the presence of Ghwell in Tripoli, which according to reports by the agencies "is going around the city undisturbed with a group of men, maybe twenty."

Last October 14, the head of the government of National Salvation Khalifah Ghwell had announced that his executive would return to Tripoli, but if today's one was an attempt, he was foiled.
