A matter of hours now. The jihadist rebels of theArmy of the Conquest (Jaysh al Fateh) and Fatah Halab accepted the terms of surrender. The agreement provides for the possibility for the rebels to exit through the Anadan corridor north of Aleppo, along the road leading to the border with Turkey, and to have their lives saved.

Between Sunday 11 and Monday 12 December more than 2000 fighters had already surrendered to the Syrian army, after the clashes in the district of Sheick Sa'eed, considered the last rebel stronghold.

The surrender of the militants will be followed by securing the urban areas concerned with the necessary round-ups in search of any isolated pockets of resistance and the reclamation of traps and explosive devices.

The bulk of Syrian forces fit for combat will be deployed in other critical areas: the west front between the governorates of Aleppo and Ildib in order to recover territories from the pro-Turkish militias; the Palmyra front, where a return of the forces of the Islamic State is underway.
