43 years have passed since the Bologna massacre, when at 1025 on 2 August 1980 an explosion tore through the left wing of the station on Piazza Medaglie d'oro and swept away the 2nd class waiting room, the offices on the first floor and the restaurant.

"The memory of a massacre, that of Bologna" says Undersecretary of State for Defense Matteo Perego of Cremnago “with 85 innocent victims, and 200 injured.
