Putin continues the deployment of YARS ICBMs

The Russian Federation is continuing the deployment of the Inter-Continental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) missile system RS-24 YARS, SS-29 according to the NATO terminology, started in December of the 2009.

The YARS is a mobile or fixed system, equipped with a solid propellant intercontinental ballistic missile, with multiple nuclear warheads (up to 300 kt) and a range of about 12.000 km. Developed at the beginning of the 2000 years by the Moscow Institute of Thermal Technology on the basis of the TOPOL-M system. the first test launch was carried out by the Plesetsk polygon towards Kura (Kamchatka region) on 29 May 2007. In November, 2017, the Commander of the Russian Strategic Missile Forces, declared that all missile divisions operating on mobile systems would be reequipped with the YARS within the 2026.

Moscow is carrying out the rearmament of its Armed Forces, as part of the Russian Military Program 2018-2027 aimed at strengthening conventional forces and nuclear deterrence, through spending over ten years of about 20 trillion rubles (352,3 billion dollars) .
