Probably the Polish Air Force will acquire the 5 fighter of the Lockheed Martin F-35A generation.

The Polish National Minister of Defense Blaszczak signed a Ministry's technological modernization plan in February with the aim of outlining the priorities for the acquisition of arms for the country's security.

During the presentation of the plan to the press, the Minister stated that one of the priorities concerns the acquisition of 32 fighter bombers of 5 generation.

Since the F-22 Raptor it is no longer in production and the new Russian fighter Sukhoi Su-57, for obvious reasons, would hardly be available, all that remains is the F-35A lightning II.

The need for the Air Force relates to the replacement of fighters of former Soviet design (32 Sukhoi Su-22 and 28 Mig-29) but also US (48 F-16). The President of the Republic Duda himself expressed the need to modernize the aircraft in service, and called the F-35 the key of the success.

Poland had been interested in hunting for Lockheed Martin ten years ago, however the acquisition costs were too high for the allocations destined for the National Defense.

At present, the unit costs of the F-35 have fallen sharply, thanks to the increase in production (Belgium recently decided to buy 34 fighter X-35A), falling to around 80 million dollars per specimen.

If Warsaw's interest in the F-35A were to materialize by the end of the year, the Air Force will be able to start receiving the new aircraft already for the 2024, according to Lockheed Martin sources.
