Tomorrow, during the military parade for the celebrations of the 72 th anniversary of the Republic, some operators of the 9 ° assault regiment With Moschin they will parade for the Imperial Fora. One of the members, the first major corporal Michael T. of the 140 ° raiding company, of this prestigious department of Italian special forces - which our readers know well - was awarded the title of Medic of the year, during the scientific meeting of the Special Operations Medical Association (SOMSA) in the United States.

SOMSA, whose goal is the progress of medical science in special operations, has chosen Michael for his exceptional work, professionalism and predisposition demonstrated on the Iraqi battlefield in the context of combat medic, in a context that is certainly not permissive as well as the high operational difficulty.

Deployed in Iraq, as part of the operation First Parthica (Special Forces Operational Detachment, SFOD 51), at the Casualty Collection Point, the young raider - whose operating theater was located west of Mosul - contributed to the treatment on the field and in the operating room of about 120 wounded in the Emergency Response Division (ERD) of the Iraqi security forces (ISF), engaged in fighting for the liberation of the territories occupied by militia of the Islamic state.

In addition, Michael promoted meetings with similar departments in the United States, for the creation of an additional infirmary and the coordination of interventions for wounded fighters awaiting medical evacuation (MEDEVAC). This initiative has earned our incursor several appreciations from institutions and military equipment of the Middle East country but also from the Allies of Italy, engaged in field operations against ISIS.

The operators authorized to Combat-MedicThanks to a series of specific courses, they are able to provide medical assistance on the battlefield, in the absence of specific health facilities.

Special forces operators take training courses, also abroad, to obtain certifications and specializations (from Mid Level Provider Special Operations Combat, SOCM to the 18D of the Special Forces Group Americans).

The high specialization that is achieved, allows them to intervene on the wounded in non-permissive areas and in conditions of isolation but also to act as instructors against staff who are fasting health techniques. Moreover, as in the case of the Nono's attacker, since the international qualifications, the operators are authorized to provide assistance also to the local populations and to the friendly forces in case of need.
