DARPA, the US Department of Defense government agency in charge of developing new technologies for military use, is developing a system that currently allows the launch and recovery of drones weighing up to 500 kilograms.

In a video that has just been released, one of the prototypes is shown.

The ability to transport and harness air power anywhere in the world is believed to be critical for dominance in a future naval conflict.

Last December, a system was successfully verified that has repeatedly captured and launched a Lockheed Martin drone fury.

The system can be transported by a six meter container for easy transfer by road, ship, train, C-130 transport plane or CH-47 helicopter. It can operate both on land and at sea.

A squad of two or four military personnel can deploy or fold the launch / recovery facility in minutes.
