The Israeli Golani brigade and the ambush in late November

As already published at the end of November (v. article), an Israeli air attack killed four Islamic State militants present in Israeli territory. This first clash has taken on the rank of "event" and aroused alarm.

Let's review the incident. A Sunday morning at the end of November, at 08: 30 in the morning, soldiers from the reconnaissance unit belonging to the brigade Golani, Or the first infantry brigade Israeli subordinate to the 36 division, they crossed the security barrier with Syria, putting in place a real "ambush."

The reason lies in the fact that, while remaining within the territory of Israel, the soldiers were attacked by the army of Khalid ibn al-Walid, formerly known as the brigade of the martyrs of Yarmouk, a Wahhabi terrorist formation operating in Syria on the border with Israel.

The brigade, known for the kidnapping of the UN 21 blue helmets from the Philippines, patrolling the border of the Golan Heights, has sworn allegiance to ISIS and adopted the flag.

The Israeli soldiers initially responded to small arms fire and later defended themselves from mortar fire. The ambush found its conclusion when an Israeli plane hit a truck carrying four terrorists.

Importantly, however, both Khalid ibn al-Walid's army and Jabhat Fateh al-Sham brigade (formerly Fronte al-Nusra linked to al-Qaeda) are groups that have been settling on the borders of Israel for years.

The ambush of late November highlighted the first case of an attack by affiliates of the self-styled Islamic State, which deliberately attacked Israeli troops within their territory.

Numerous mortar rounds have fallen within Israeli territory, some of which may have been fired by these terrorist groups, although most were probably "spill over" fights in Syria.

This kind of reaction by Israeli forces near the borders, adverse to the various groups involved in the Syrian civil war, acts as a deterrent to the creation of new threats to the state and its citizens.
