An IAF drone, the Israeli Air Force, was reportedly shot down on Sunday while flying over the Quneitra area in the Syrian part of the Golan Heights. The Defense Ministry of Damascus yesterday released a statement according to which an Israeli UAV was shot down by one of their air defense units, which would be the second aircraft lost by the IAF in a week.

According to Lebanese sources linked to Hezbollah, the Israeli UAV was shot down while 'acquiring targets for artillery', but the Jerusalem version denies the downing and only reports the 'loss' of an Elbit 'Skylark' UAV.

The Israeli army reported that a drone crashed in Syria, without adding further details and ensuring that sensitive information is not at risk.

Several photographs of the 'fallen' drone have been disseminated online.

While Israel is not officially fighting in the Syrian war, it continues to monitor the actions of its enemies: Iran and Lebanese Hezbollah, both allies of Damascus.
