In recent days, the bomb squads belonging to the 11th Engineer Guastatori Regiment of Foggia, units employed by the "Pinerolo" brigade, carried out the defusing and blasting operations of an aircraft bomb dating back to the Second World War. The bomb, weighing 500 pounds (about 220 kilograms), was found during the works for the restoration of a pipeline in Malandrano in the municipality of Davoli (CZ). The bomb squads, once the bomb had been secured, removed the fuze and transported it to a quarry for the next blasting.

The activities, coordinated by the Prefecture of Catanzaro and supported by a proven safety device that resulted in the temporary closure of the adjacent pipeline and of the Provincial Roads 128 and 130, ended without any particular discomfort for the population. For the technical abilities of its personnel and the means it has supplied, the Italian Army is particularly active in providing its contribution to public utilities.
