With the folding of the last logistic module from the Terracina pier, the operation of the Air Force dedicated to the removal from the seabed of the remains of the Eurofighter which tragically crashed into the sea in the final phase of the program on 24 September last year ended. flight during the air show.

A specialized cell of intervention in the marine environment of the Italian Air Force worked alongside representatives of the Ministry of the Environment, the Lazio Region, ARPA, the other Armed Forces and Armies of the State as well as those of the Municipality of Terracina.

The recovery activities at sea were carried out by the staff of the 15 ° Stormo and 17 ° Stormo "Incursori" with highly specialized divers who operated on varying depths from 25 to 30 meters performing over 550 dives in about 80 effective days of work. Weather conditions and those of the sea, sometimes prohibitive, have often slowed the operations of divers who started last 8 January and ended the 31 May.

Operational and logistic support was assured with personnel and vehicles of 3 ° Stormo, 16 ° Stormo "Fucilieri dell'Aria", 70 ° Stormo, 2 ° and 3 ° Genio AM department and 4ª brigade Telecommunications and Systems for Air Defense and Flight Assistance.

The 1 ° Aircraft Maintenance Department has cataloged at the military airport of Latina all the finds recovered from the seabed that remain available to the investigative bodies.
