(To Greater Defense)
15/07/16

The 16 update session dedicated to 16 qualified operators FAC (the XNUMX) was concluded at the Guidonia Aerocooperation School (RM).Forward Air Controllers) of the armed forces.

These training sessions are aimed at keeping the FAC operators updated on the evolution of the reference doctrine and on the techniques, tactics and procedures (Techincs, Tactics and Procedures - TTPs) applied in the employment sector. From this year onwards, these meetings are supplemented by the "SIM CAS WEEKs", weeks of study specifically structured by the Aerocooperation School, for training targeted, through a simulator, to conduct close air support operations (CAS - Close Air Support), necessary to maintain the qualification levels of the operators.

The "guides" carried out on the simulator, which is also NATO certified, thanks to their characteristic of immersion reproducing different scenarios and operational contexts, offer the same value as the real or training operational activities carried out with flight arrangements at the shooting ranges and training areas. This makes it possible to comply with NATO standards and therefore be able to operate internationally together with the armed forces of the allied countries.

The Aerocooperation School is the military inter-agency of specialized training and technical-operative value in the field of the interpretation of remote sensing images (aerial and satellite) and in that of aeroterrestre and aeronavale cooperation. For the training and qualification of the Forward Air Controllers, the school commander is the "National Certification Authority".

The courses of the School of Aerocooperation are open, in addition to the military personnel of the Armed Forces, also to personnel outside the Administration of Defense and military personnel of NATO and the countries participating in the International Partnership for Peace program (PfP - Partnership for Peace), subject to authorization by the General Staff Defense.

The training / training procedures for Synthetic Aperture Radar Imagery Interpretation (SAR-II), Initial / Advanced Remote Sensing (IRS / ARS) e Forward Air Controllers (FAC) have obtained NATO certification and are published in the course catalog (ETOC) of theAllied Command for Transformation from Norfolk (USA).
