Yesterday an HH-139 helicopter of the air rescue of the Air Force, which took off late in the evening from the base of Pratica di Mare, identified three people who had been missing for several hours in the area of Lake Matese.

Thanks to the use of special night visors (Night Vision Goggles) it was possible to identify the three missing within a very deep mountain cavity. The particularly impervious nature of the area has made it preferable to rescue by ground rescue teams, which is taking place at this time.

The alert was taken late in the evening with the request to speak at Air Operations Command of Poggio Renatico (Ferrara), the national command and control center of the Air Force from which the control and defense activities of the national air space are managed, the transport missions and also this kind of interventions in favor of the community. The 85 ° SAR Group (Search and Rescue), one of the air search and rescue centers located throughout the country, was immediately activated and around the 20,30 an HH-139A took off from the Pratica di Mare airport to reach the area designated for research.

In addition to a team of aero-rescuers of the Air Force, specialized personnel to intervene in any environmental condition for the recovery of personnel, a team from the mission took part in the mission. National Alpine and Speleological Rescue Corps of Campania.

The coordination between rescue teams on the ground and in the sky is one of the fundamental elements for the success of this type of intervention and is the goal of the numerous exercises that the Air Force periodically promotes throughout the national territory with other Armed Forces, Corps Armati dello Stato and National Alpine and Speleological Rescue Corps.
