This morning in Pozzuoli, at the Aeronautical Academy, in the presence of the chief of staff of the AOS, air squad general Alberto Rosso, the traditional Inauguration ceremony of the 2018/2019 Academic Year of the Training Institutes of the Air Force.
The ceremony, which was attended by civil and military authorities and a large representation of parents and families of young students, opened with a speech by the commander of the Air Force Schools and the 3 ^ Air Region, Umberto Air General Baldi. After a brief introduction on the main activities carried out by the Armed Forces in the last Academic Year in the fields of personnel selection and training, the gen. Baldi wanted to highlight the most significant results achieved in the year of study just passed, as well as the projects and objectives of what is starting; among these, in particular, the numerous collaborations with the university world throughout the national territory, the synergy with the aerospace industry sector and the numerous inter-force integration and international cooperation projects that in the Training Institutes and in the Armed Forces schools find their first and significant field of application.
"This is an important day, because it testifies to the attention for our future, for those who represent our continuity, the Air Force of tomorrow", has begun the gen Rosso in his greeting address, ideally referring to all young students of the Armed Forces."Our greatest responsibility is to invest and dedicate the most valuable resources to the human element, the heart of the organization. It is essential to prepare men and women inspired by exemplary values, morals and ethics, faithful witnesses to the oath of service to the Fatherland, capable and authoritative professionals in a sector as advanced as aerospace. Technology and innovation are the hallmarks of the Italian Air Force, but increasingly sophisticated and modern aircraft, vehicles and systems are of little use if not combined with the best preparation of the human element."
The ceremony ended with the intervention of the national anti-mafia and counter-terrorism prosecutor, dott. Federico Cafiero De Raho, who gave a lecture on the activities to fight crime phenomena of the mafia type and international terrorism. "Freedom, dignity, solidarity and equality must be non-negotiable values for all. The mafias are strong when society is weak and when silence dominates", underlined the prosecutor,"and only with the circulation of information and the sharing of knowledge is it possible to prevent and defeat such criminal phenomena. To you, young students, who will have the duty to fulfill with discipline and honor the functions that will be assigned to you in the future and to contribute to national security and the affirmation of peace and solidarity, the best wishes for an extraordinary academic year".
During the ceremony the pilot eagles were delivered to the students of the first year of the regular courses of the Aeronautical Academy who have obtained the airplane pilot's license at the 70 ° Stormo di Latina, the first stage of the articulated training path to become a military pilot , as well as a series of awards to the students who have distinguished themselves particularly during the training process, including the "honor saber", attributed to the pilot student who during the three years of the Regular Course has maintained the position of head course .
