Aviolancio's joint exercise between Italy and the United States

On Tuesday 11 April the Rivolto (UD) airport was the scene of a joint air-launch exercise conducted by US and Italian Army units; a total of 672 paratroopers launched themselves on the Friulian airport of the Air Force, headquarters of the 2nd Wing and the 313th Acrobatic Training Group “Frecce Tricolori”.

The soldiers, coming from the 173rd Airborne Brigade of Vicenza and the 183rd parachute regiment of Pistoia, boarded 3 C130J aircraft of the American military aviation from Aviano (PN) airport, reaching then Rivolto for launches.

It was an activity aimed at maintaining the qualifications of the personnel, carried out through aviolancio on an unknown sedime.
The fact of having conducted the activity in a joint and coordinated manner between the Armed Forces of different Countries, contributing to the consolidation of tactics and procedures increasingly converging towards a common standard, is important.

The operation was also an opportunity for the staff of the 2 ° Stormo to train themselves in maintaining their support capacities and to test the synergies between the various departments of the department in order to guarantee the performance of complex exercises within the airport grounds .

The 2 ° Stormo, in addition to providing daily support for the 313 ° activity Acrobatic Training Group "Frecce Tricolori", is the operational department identified as a missile center of armed force, responsible for the training and operational readiness of men and vehicles of the "Spada" missile batteries of the Air Force.
