Air Force helicopter rescues three people aboard a boat adrift in Sardinia

Yesterday afternoon, an AB 212 helicopter from the 80th Centro Combat SAR (Search And Rescue) in Decimomannu, from the 15th Wing of the Italian Air Force, came to the rescue of three people of French nationality whose sailing boat had gone adrift off Alghero.

The helicopter took off from Decimomannu air base at 15.00 following activation by the Poggio Renatico Air Operations Command (FE). The aircraft, after a brief refueling in Oristano, continued its journey towards the point marked for the search and rescue of people on board.

The adverse wind and strong sea conditions made the intervention that ended at 18.10 particularly complicated. Once the three people were taken to the Cagliari hospital, the AB212 returned to the Decimomannu base.
