A Technical Collaboration Agreement was signed today, Friday 23 December, between the Italian Air Force, the Ministry of the Environment and the Protection of the Territory and the Sea, ENEA and CNR, a cooperation agreement on the use and production of aeronautical biofuel, aimed at identify and study newly formulated fuels, obtained from renewable sources (“biofuels”).

The activity will see in the next two years the Experimental Flight Center of the Air Force, based at Pratica di Mare Airport, conduct an intense program of study activities, laboratory analysis and experimentation.

The initiative is framed in the features of the White Paper in terms of collaboration with other administrations and research institutions in a scientific sector with a strongly “dual” connotation.

The involvement of the AM in this activity is based on the knowledge and expertise that the armed force possesses in the sector of aeronautical engines and fuels, including their experimentation.

Biofuels constitute an avant-garde and highly topical scientific area, elements that have always characterized the action of the AM to serve the "Country System".

The project supports Italy with similar initiatives in other advanced countries (such as, for example, the USA), relates to a theme, that of the availability and sustainability of alternative fuels, destined to have a great impact not only in the environment and in terms of protecting the environment territory, but also in the scientific, economic, industrial and social.
